Analytical Model of SIGMA: End-to-End Seamless Mobility Management for Data Networks

چکیده
A new end-to-end seamless mobility management protocol, called Seamless IP diversity-based Generalized Mobility Architecture (SIGMA), which utilizes multi-homing to achieve seamless handover of a mobile host and overcomes a number of performance bottlenecks and security limitations of Mobile IP, has been proposed in the literature. Various performance aspects of SIGMA have been widely studied in the literature using simulation and experimental prototype. Simulation and experimental results are, however, specific to the scenario being studied and cannot be used to generalize the performance of SIGMA. In this paper, we propose an analytical model to evaluate the performance of SIGMA for a wide range of mobile host velocities, propagation delay between communicating peers, error rate, and receiver power.

Efficient Mobility Management for Seamless Roaming between WWAN and WLAN
As we are moving toward the next generation all-IP wireless networks, we are facing the integration of non-homogeneous networks, such as wireless wide area networks (WWAN) and wireless local area networks (WLAN). In vertical handoff between WWAN and WLAN, the mobile hosts are required to be able to move freely across different networks while satisfying the quality of service requirements for a ...
متن کاملSignaling cost and performance of SIGMA: A seamless handover scheme for data networks
Mobile IP has been developed to handle mobility of Internet hosts at the network layer. Mobile IP, however, suffers from a number of drawbacks such as requirement of infrastructure change, high handover latency, high packet loss rate, and conflict with network security solutions. In this paper, we describe and evaluate the performance of SIGMA, a Seamless IP diversity based Generalized Mobility...
متن کاملSIGMA for Space Sensor Web Networks
A constellation of spacecrafts, carrying sensing equipment for collection of scientific data, can be connected using communication links to form a space sensor web. Data collected by the sensors are downloaded to Earth through ground stations through the sensor web. The relative motion of the spacecrafts require a mobility management scheme to maintain continuous connectivity between the sensor...

متن کاملThe Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
